Up the Attic Steps is the result of the collaboration of two people. My name is Pat Smith and I have been sewing and making dolls for many years. My work has been exhibited in the Museum of Folk Art in New York City and in the Toledo Museum of Art.

Several years ago my neighbor Carolyn Snyder began adding hair, hats, jewelry and other accessories to the dolls. Together we have designed new dolls and reworked old ones. We worked from my basement and sold our dolls throughout the Midwest.

In July of 2005 we started a new venture and opened a store in Perrysburg, Ohio. In order to display our dolls we have found some very unique furniture. We have many antiques, including some unique primitive pieces. We carry jewelry, watercolor painting and other works of art from local craftsman. Recently we have added needle punch, penny rugs and very popular bamboo ducks and crows.

On a personal note, I have, in addition to a very patient husband, 2 children, Kelly who is getting her masters degree and George an undergraduate, both attending Bowling Green University. I also have Chelsea, a rescue German Sheppard, Maggie, a German Sheppard-beagle mix, and a kitten named Newton. Carolyn has 3 grown children and 2 Salukis, Jazz and Quest, as well as a patient husband.
